How To Wear Boots 102 – Beyond The Basic Boot Styles

Welcome back to the Gentleman's Gazette! In today's video, we discuss how to wear boots102 or boot styles beyond the basics.

If you are new to boots, please check outour other video about the 5 basic boot styles first.

Once you have your basic boots covered, it'stime for some advanced styles.

First, let's talk about Button boots.

It's this beautiful boot with two-tone andbuttons.

So who are they for? They're for men who like elegant formal outfits;dark suits like charcoal, maybe a stroller suit, or a morning coat.

They're definitely a statement piece becausethey're contrasting like a spectator and so they stand out from the crowd.

It's also a great option for you if you simplydon't want a boot that anybody else has because there's a very small number of people whoactually have them.

It's also great for people who love vintageclothing because it can give you that vintage look.

To learn how to button these boots, pleasecheck out our in-depth guide here.

So what colors should you get them in for? Well, traditionally, you have a black boxcalf leather at the bottom upper and then a contrasting white or off-white suede top.

Today, you can also find them with fabricinserts such as tweed.

Maybe in some contrasting leather, you havebrown, or you can have red with black.

Basically, the sky is the limit.

So who is this boot not for? Obviously for people who are just startingout with boots but that goes without saying.

It's also not a boot for you if you're notinto formal clothing unless of course, you go with tweed and something in brown but that'svery unusual and only available made to order.

It's also not a terribly modern look so ifyou want to be cutting edge, this is not the boot for you.

The next boot style is the opposite, it'sthe so-called work boot.

As you can see, it's dirty, it has scuffs, because it's used to work outside and so there are signs of wear.

Work boots are perfect if you are in the constructionbusiness, if you work outside a lot, if you're very physical, or if you love your yard andyour garden and you just need something that withstands the elements.

They're also good for electricians and sometimesthey come with steel toe caps so your feet are protected.

In recent years, these boots have become verypopular with hipsters who wear high-end expensive denim jeans and flannel shirts.

If they have a tattoo, a beard, and a disconnectedundercut.

The most well known popular brand is definitelyRed Wing who recognized this trend and so besides the regular work line, it createda heritage line.

Even though it emphasizes the craftsmanshipof the boots, it's clearly a more fashion-driven brand.

Outside the US, these kinds of work boot stylesfor city men are popular in Japan & Germany, and many other countries.

They also come with a surprise, these bootshere are from Thorogood.

It's another US made brand and it's very good.

I've been using those for years and I canvouch for the quality.

As you can imagine, I only wear them when I actually work outside.

Other brands you can look into include Eastland, Wolverine, and Danner.

For work purposes, a vibram sole is greatbecause it's rubber, it gives you extra grip but you can also find them with differentkinds of leather soles or rubber soles.

What color should you go for? Traditionally, this is a kind of mid brown.

If you want something different, you can gowith dark brown, something in burgundy or even sand.

Since it has that outdoor work heritage, blackcan simply be too formal.

So who's this boot not for? If you wear a lot of suits and you like formaloutfits, this is not the boot for you.

Ideally, this pairs well with denim, not evenwell with khakis, so if you're not into denim, don't buy this boot.

Another variation to the classic work bootis the so-called moc toe boot.

It's inspired by the moccasin and althoughthe construction is not a true moccasin, it has a similar look.

So who's it for? It's for men who like the traditional lookof the work boot but they don't need the performance aspect, it's simply for the looks.

The moc toe will usually have a white rubbersole and they're perfectly fine to wear for a start-up office or a casual office environment.

So what colors should you get moc toes in? I personally think mid brown or even better, burgundy because it goes well with colors, not just blue but other shades.

One of my personal favorite boot styles isthe brogue boots or the wingtip boots.

This style comes in lots of different versionsand I just like it because it goes so well with fall/winter outfits and it has a typicalfull brogue look and as a boot, it's just slightly warmer and I even prefer it to aregular shoe.

Obviously, we have a very thick sole likethis one or you can go with something thinner.

This is more elegant.

So who are these boots for? Men who love flannel suits, or tweed, or anyother kind of winter fabric.

They pair supremely well and always looksstylish.

They also look great with denim, corduroy, chinos, or any other kind of casual pant.

Honestly, I can't think of a man who can'twear this boot.

Obviously, if you're into brogues, this isthe boot for you.

if you get them with a thick leather sole, they can even do double duty as a hiking boot.

So what colors should you get them in? Personally, I like tan a lot because it'scontrasting so if you have a black, dark brown, brown, or navy blue pair of corduroys, jeans, or chinos, it really stands out.

Maximum versatility though, I think you shouldgo with a cordovan oxblood color.

This here is a cordovan boot and it goes witha lot of outfits, it's not as flashy but I used some shoelaces to get a different look.

Obviously, I did the same thing with thisboot.

The great thing about having different bootlaces is that you can achieve a different look simply by exchanging a very inexpensivepair of boot laces.

For a selection of more than 15 colors ofboot laces, please click here.

So who's this boot not for? Honestly, almost any man can wear it but it'snot for you if you like clean, simplistic lines and a minimalist design.

Then, you should rather go with Chelsea bootsor the Jodhpur boots.

The final advanced boot style really dependson what kind of climate you live in.

if you live in a dry climate, I suggest youget a suede boot.

Simply because it has a wonderful texture, it's very different from regular box calf or cordovan boots and it is casual and itoftentimes come in different colors, they're not super classic but still very, very goodto combine in a classic inspired men's wardrobe.

if you live in a colder rainy climate, youshould probably invest in a pair of dak boots.

In the early 20th century, Leon Leonwood Beancame back from a hunting trip and had wet feet so he decided to do something about that.

He went to a local cobbler and had a regularboot combined with a rubber boot.

It turned out, it was a fantastic idea andin the 1912, he acquired a mailing list.

The ad read “You cannot expect success huntingdeer or moose if your feet are not properly dressed.

The Maine hunting shoe is designed by a hunterwho has tramped the Maine woods for the last 18 years.

We guarantee them to give the perfect satisfactionin every way.

” Now obviously, this kind of marketing wouldn'tquite fly today but back then it really worked and people bought the boot, loved it, andthat's why L.

L Bean is still around today.

So why are they called Dak boots? Well, hunters in the marshy waters of Maine, Massachusetts hunted for ducks and so this hunting boot eventually became the Dak boot.

Today, it's worn by people who hunt anythingnot just ducks.

It's also for people who just want warm feetwhen it's cold outside or when it's raining.

It certainly has a very unique aesthetic andpersonally, I'm not a huge fan of it but they're very functional and definitely a classic.

Who are the boots for? They're good for men in wet or cold conditions.

There are lots of companies producing thesekinds of boots, one of them that has a pretty high-quality comes from Bozeman, Montana andthey're called Schnee's.

Ironically, Schnee's the word for snow inGerman.

They promise to make boots that go even to-4 degrees Fahrenheit.

So what color should you get? Primarily, the color doesn't matter but mostof them come in a shade of brown.

So who's this boot not for? Basically, for all people who don't need afunctionality because hands down, it's an ugly boot.

Side zippers on boots may seem like a goodidea because they're convenient but I would stay clear of them because usually, they wearout prematurely and exchanging zippers on a high-quality boot is a difficult thing andit never looks good.

Stick to regular, traditional boots that arelace up.

It may take you a few seconds longer to getin but you can keep those for years to come.

Of course, there are a lot more differentboot styles, but these are my personal five favorite advanced boot styles and I don'twear cowboy boots, otherwise, I would have mentioned them but honestly, that should warrantan entire video on its own.

DIY Boho Boots! 5 Stiefel Styles für den Herbst!

Hey guys, today we're going to make Boho Boots I think they're really nice and now that the days are going to be cooler and autumn is coming Boho Boots are perfect for an outfit combined with a short dress As you can see, this is the look we want to have for our boots Now we put off these buckles and start with the first style: I found an old belt at home, which I bought years ago and found very cool but didn't wear it anytime So now we're going to wrap it all around the shoe Make sure you design the outer side of the boot nicer than the inner side cause nobody will actually see, whats on the inner side.

Now the belt is fixed and I want to add a smaller braided belt, which does match fine with the colors of the big one.

Now we finished the first style and our first Boho Boots.

Please make sure, to always buy two types of a belt if you don't have belts at home, cause you have two pair of shoes If you have a belt at home which is long or wide enough, just cut it in two pieces.

Lets start with style number two where I will be using this white decoration material I find very cool.

So wrap it around again and always make sure, you pay attention to the outer side of the boot.

You can fix it with some fixing pins or you can glue the cloth to your boot.

I prefer the fixing pins, because I like to have the option to put off the whole thing.

Again I decided to use a smaller belt which is a leather substitute, of course.

It so happened, that all the decoration has the same brown color, what is actually perfect Now we're also going to wrap this tiny belt around the boot Almost ready, but we're not done yet the next thing I'm going to do, is fixing this glowy necklaces all around the shoe I found these at home, there are some pears in it colored in white and beige Everything you want to hide, like knots or tiny closures, you don't want people to see, you have to put on the inner side.

Last but not least the black necklace Just wrap it around knot on the inner side Now we're ready with our second style which you can perfectly combine with skinny jeans or maybe a white dress For the next stye I chose some black western bootee with a small heel and bought some black cloth with a nice flower print from which I cut off some parts and braided them Now I will cut off a stripe of cloth Cutted and braided, but first we're going to take those silver necklaces and wrap them around the bootee.

I like that look pretty much, and probably you've already seen kind of these in shopping malls Now put your romantic flowered stripe onto your rocky boot Looks pretty nice, I think If your stripe is too short, maybe you have to stich it with your shoe so it doesn't fall off.

Now we're going to take our braided cloth and tie it with the necklace.

So here's boot number three which I like most, cause it's rocky, it's punky and the outfit I would chose, would be a leather skirt or a destroyed jeans Lets start with style number four, this is a boot with a longer leg and you have to put over the upper part of your shoe Here you can see result now we're going to make something like a glam-rock-style so all we're going to do is wrap this belt with those tiny studs all around the shoe As you can see, the closure is on the inner side but it won't be bad, if you put it on the outer side Still not ready! Grab your golden necklace this one is from New Yorker and was only one euro (I already used them in the DIY where I was doing a cover of the Chanel bagpack) Boot number four is ready and I really like the golden color combined with the black boots What would I wear with them.

.

.

a black leather leggins! Last but not least I grabbed my brown bootee again and now we're going to do something very fast and easy We just put this brown belt with this giant brooch all around our boot Here it's actually really important to have two identical belts for your shoes Small effort, big effect I just pulled the belt around the boot and closed the brooch and now we're gonna add this tiny blue necklace After all, boot number five, little bit more massive than the other ones but very chic on your feet Skinny Jeans in blue or white should fit very well but you should always choose a color that is matchy with your brooch Well guys, this was my DIY for today I hope you liked it and got inspired to style up your old boots Thumbs up if you liked the video and please let me know in the comments below, which boot you liked the most If you want to, you can follow me on Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook or subscribe to my channel, if you like, that would make me very happy See you next time, byebye!.

Brown Boots vs. Black Boots | Which Color Is Better For YOU?

What's up guys my name is Brock you'rewatching The Modest Man and today we're talking about the differences betweenbrown boots and black boots.

Ok so you've decided to buy a new pair of boots maybeit's your first pair or maybe you're just expanding your shoe collection.

First of all congratulations I think you're making an excellent decision andI want to help you make the best purchase for you.

Of course the firstthing is you need to pick the right type of boots and there are so many types ofboots from Chelsea to chukkas and I actually made a video about the topthree best types of boots.

The most versatile boots for men.

So definitely gocheck that out but once you pick which type of boots you want you have to picka color and there are many different colors in both leather and suede but Ithink the two most common colors by far are brown and black.

Now both colors areexcellent choices they're both very versatile there's no wrong choice.

Youreally can't go wrong with brown leather boots or black leather bootsin fact a lot of guys probably have both in their collection.

But if you don'twant to choose one which is the best choice for you.

Now in my opinion there's no universal best choice that really depends on yourpersonal preferences and your situation but I do have some suggestions and someadvice based on where you are in your personal style journey.

So think aboutyour current wardrobe is it complete? You know do you feel pretty good about it? Does it really represent your personal style and you feel like you can puttogether an outfit with relative ease or are you a total beginner? You know or areyou still working on it? You're still trying to find your personal style.

So ifyou already have a pretty solid wardrobe which you are pretty happy with, look at thecolor palette.

If your closet is full of blues and greens and earth tones likecream and brown and tan then brown boots are probably going to be the best choicefor you because they're gonna work well with the clothes that you already own.

Now on the other hand, if your wardrobe is full of black, white, navy, grey thenblack boots are probably going to be a better choice for you because they'regoing to be more versatile.

Of course if you're a total beginner you know youfeel like your wardrobe is not complete or maybe it doesn'treally represent your personal style or maybe you don't even know what yourpersonal style is yet that's okay there's still some ways that you canfigure out if you should buy brown boots or black boots.

So what you want to dois you want to think about your eventual style aesthetic.

Your eventual stylepreferences.

Think about like two, three years from now what kind of guy are yougonna be, what kind of clothes are you gonna want to wear and what do yougravitate toward right now.

For example if you identify with the ruggedAmericana kind of blue-collar, work wear aesthetic I'm talking about likesalvaged denim, brown leather accessories, you know navy or brown chinos, olive chinos, plaid flannel shirts, you know, leather belts, chunky sweater stuff like thatthen brown boots are probably gonna be a better choice for you right now becausethey're gonna play into that aesthetic that you already kind of like.

Now in thesame way if you identify with the really preppy aesthetic like Oxford cottonbutton-down shirts and woven belts and pastels and boat shoes and chinos shortsthen brown boots are probably gonna be the best color for you because they workwell with that preppy aesthetic.

Now on the other hand, you know if you'rebrowsing your Instagram feed and you realize that all the people that youfollow are into really minimal street wear kind of rakish looks then you mightwant to go with black boots instead.

I'm talking about like slim black jeans, plain white t-shirts, minimal accessories, you know, monochromatic color schemesyou're probably gonna be better off buying black boots.

It's not that youcan't wear brown boots with black jeans.

You can.

You can mix brown and black butyou're probably not gonna get as much used in versatility out of brown bootsif you really like the kind of street wear, minimal, edgy, you know, monochromaticlook.

Personally I've always preferred brown boots because my wardrobe ismostly been a mix between like rugged and preppy and brown boot just kind ofgo with the clothes that I already have but lately I have been finding myselfkind of gravitating and thinking more about like the minimal monochromaticeven street wear kind of look so I'm actually pretty excited to add theseblack chelsea boots from Thursday Boot Company to my shoe collection and it'sgonna be really fun and interesting to you know see how I can incorporate thesemy existing wardrobe and maybe even tweak my wardrobe a little bit, you know, to, to better suit this kind of look.

At the end of the day you know it's justclothes so don't be afraid to experiment with both colors and don't be afraid toevolve and that's the thing you know the truth is your preferences will probablychange, you know, as you get older and your situation and life changes you maybe change jobs or you move to a new city or you have a family and you become aparent – whatever.

It's okay to to let your style evolved with you to betterrepresent your current life situation and personality.

You know that's whatmakes this fun is that you get to change because if you just wear the same thingevery day for your whole life it's gonna get pretty boring.

Alright guys I hopethis video helps you choose between a black boots and brown boots especiallyif you're buying your first pair.

If you have any questions of course feel freeto ask down in the comments.

Thanks again to Thursday Boot Company for continuingto support my work here at The Modest Man and until next time.

Stay stylish!.

Men's Fall & Winter Leather Boots | How To Wear Men's Boots – Dress, Casual, Work, Chukka, Lace-Up

hi I'm Ashley Weston I'm a celebrity menswear stylist this video is part of my men's fall and winter essential series to see the other articles and videos in this series check out the link in the video description so today I want to talk to you about boots there

are three types of boots that I love during the fall winter season a nice dress boot casual boot and chukka boot now the reason why I love boots during this part of the year is because not only does it look great with jeans wool trousers and a nice

fall winter suit but it also keeps your feet nice and warm and protected from the elements while still looking classy and refined now if you live in an area where you get a bit of rain and snow then you should probably get a specialty food for those crazier

days but that's outside of the scope of this video so let's quickly go over the differences between a dress boot and casual boot so dress boots are formal so they go well with suits and wool trousers they also have a sleeker profile and the soles are usually made

out of either leather or rubber also the leather itself is a shinier calf leather as opposed to a thicker cowhide now just think of a dress boot like a dress shoe but with a shaft on it so for casual boots they're usually a little less formal and sophisticated

which is why they work so well with jeans but they also can still be worn with wool trousers just not suits there's a little bit more room in the toe box and the leather is usually made out of a thicker cowhide although not always these boots here actually

made out of a calf skin so the quickest way to tell between a casual boot and a dress food is by the soles so if it has a lunge sole like I have here then it's 100% a casual boot let's go over the points that you should look

for in a good boot so first off you want to make sure your boot has a nice slim profile and what I mean by that is the height of the toe area you want it to be nice and slim hey Tim Berlin is the exact opposite of what

you're looking for usually timberlands have a really high toe area it's just super chunky and that's not what you want so make sure you have a nice slim sleek profile with a slim soul when I say a slim soul usually with casual boots you're going to have a

little bit thicker of a sole because usually it has a lugged bottom that's perfectly fine you just want to make sure it's not like double this thickness that's when it's just too chunky next your boot should be either a plain toe like I've got here or a cap

toe like this boot and then it can also have some broken as well which is this decorative detail that you see here the next point you want to look for in a boot is that it has a rubber bottom usually it's going to be loved or denied this

one's died and I here now you want the rubber bottom because you need that added traction otherwise if you have leather soles you will slip and slide like crazy and any kind of wet weather the next thing you want to look for in a boot is a nice

chocolatey Brown and or black like I've got here I would definitely recommend going with a nice brown color first because it goes really great with all of your fall colors and you can wear them with your formal and casual outfits a lot easier than a black boot once

you've got brown then get a black boot I would just be careful with getting more specific colors like an ox flood cuz it's a lot more difficult to wear just doesn't complement as many colors in your wardrobe only get that color after you've gotten the brown and black

boots and lastly your boots should not be swayed like I've got here unless you live in Southern California where it only rains maybe three or four times a year but if you live in an area where it does rain and snow do not get swayed instead get a

nice leather boot because I don't care how much you Scotchgard the crap out here suede it's still gonna get completely messed up Steve suede for the spring so in regard to wearing boots with a suit you certainly can do so but just make sure it's a dress boot

and if you are going to wear boots with a suit there's two things you got to be aware of first you want to make sure your suit is made out of a heavier wool material because your boots are a visually heavy item so you need a heavier suit

to help complement it boots look very odd when it's paired with a lighter weight suit the second point you want to be aware of is when you are wearing your boots with a suit you have to make sure that the suit pants are hemmed with no brake so

no brake means it's going to hit about here if you wear your suit pants that you got tailored for dress shoes it's actually going to create a lot of bunching on the boot itself so it's going to look really sloppy unfortunately what that means is your suit can

only now be worn with your boot unless you have your tailor lengthen the hem when the seasons change and when you want to wear that suit pant now with a pair of dress shoes ok so now let's get into my favorite boots you should own and how to

wear them but just a quick note if you don't know how to properly tie your boots then check out my video linked in the description so first I've got this Allen Edmonds First Avenue dress food I really love this move because again it has the nice slim profile

like all of their dress shoes the leather is such high quality it's so great and it also has a nice rubber sole as well so I found these dress boots in a black suede bomber jacket with a charcoal turtleneck and throw on some dark wash jeans but check

out the website for more details the next boot that I really like is this casual boot by party I know you've seen this in quite a few of my videos but I really love the slim profile and this chocolaty Brown finish I paired these casual boots with a

green utility jacket and an oxford button-down and threw on some dark wash Jean the next boot that I really like is this choco boot by Johnson and Murphy this is a very well designed boot to add a great price point Johnson Murphy and Aldo are actually my to

go to brands when I'm a little bit more budget conscious they just make great shoes at a great price point so I styled these black chukkas in a trucker jacket to oxford button-down and some wool trousers so those are some of my favorite boots that you should own

there's a couple of other ones that I really love as well some suede chuckle options that I've included in my article so definitely check that out via the link in the video description this video is part of my men's fall and winter essential series check out my website

for an in-depth article that includes all the outfit details and product links subscribe to my channel for more videos like this and if you like this video remember give it a thumbs up alright thanks so much for watching I'll see you in the next one

How to Knit Brioche stitch | Bulky Brioche Scarf on Needles

– [Kristen] Learn how toknit the Brioche stitch, with the bulky Brioche scarf here.

Let's get started.

(upbeat piano music) Welcome back to GoodKnit Kisses.

I'm your host Kristen, and we are going to workon a Brioche Scarf here.

It is a two row repeat.

We're going to cast on, do the two row repeat, we'll also bind off, and I'll show you howto put in a lifeline.

It makes a double sided fabric, but it's not doubly thick.

It's got a really cool littleherring bone look to it, between the knit columns here.

And it's really squishy and enjoyable.

You can use any needlesize, any yarn size.

Today I'm making it in this super bulky, I think it makes up a quicker scarf, but also it's just niceto see the big stitches.

We're working with a super bulky yarn, and you need two skeins of YarnBee Effortless Super Bulky, which is a #6 yarn.

And uses about a skein and a half, and there's 111 yardsin this particular one.

The color on this is calledCrabapple if your interested.

I'm also using a US number 15 needle, and it's 10 millimeter.

You can use the short straight needles, or you can use a shorter length, circular needle as a flat panel.

And let's get started.

Grab your tools and I'llsee you in a moment.

I'm gonna start by making a slipknot.

And we're gonna make the knitted cast-on, for 11 stitches.

And click below for a slowervideo on how to do this.

It's two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Seven.

Eight.

Nine.

Ten.

And Eleven.

Just double check my stitches here, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven.

Okay we got eleven stitches.

Now our Foundation Row or Set up Row, is done only one time.

So the first stitch is alwaysgoing to be slip one knitwise, and you're gonna do thatactually for all the rows, but we're gonna slipthis one just this way, just like your ending stitch, but then just drop itunto the right needle.

And then you're going to yarn front.

So I go ahead and cinchthis yarn up a little bit, put the yarn in front of the right needle, and now we're going to slip one.

And you're actually slipping it purlwise, so whenever you're told to slip one, in the middle of a patternit generally means purlwise, unless it says KW for knitwise.

Okay so the repeat is yarnfront, slip one, knit one.

And then repeat that.

So it's yarn front, slip one, knit one.

'Kay.

Yarn front, slip one, knit one.

Yarn front, slip one, knit one.

Yarn front, slip one, knit one.

So you're doing it all the way to the end.

Because you have anodd number of stitches, you will be done after that 11th stitch, or after your last one.

Now we're gonna turnit and work on row one.

Row one is slip one, knitwise, just as we did on the setup row.

And now we're gonna knit two together.

And if you notice, these two stitches, are kinda making a Y, theirpushed really close together, so we're going to justknit those two together.

'Kay.

Drop that off, yarn front, 'kay, and then slip one, that's all we do for that repeat.

So now we're gonna go back to the repeat.

Which is knit two together, you see those two squished up together, that's knit two.

'Kay.

Yarn front, slip one.

Knit two, yarn front, and then slip one.

Knit two, yarn front, slip one.

And then we've got three stitches left, so when we're on the last threestitches on this row only.

We're going to knitthese last two together, which are squished together.

Knit those two together, and then knit the last stitch.

Alright, that's row one.

Row two.

Slip one, knitwise, again.

Now here's where the repeat starts.

So we're going to, it's thebeginning of the repeat.

So yarn front on this one, then we're going to slip one, and then knit two together, where these two are kinda squished up.

And then, yarn front, slip one, knit two together.

So here's repeat.

Yarn front, slip, knit two.

Yarn front, slip, knit two.

And you're gonna do this until, you get to the last two stitches, there they are.

Yarn front, slip, and knit.

That's it.

That's the repeat, so you'regonna go back and forth, between row one and row two, and continue.

Now because you can see how, this pattern changes and itsgot these little yarn overs, these yarn fronts thatmake it kinda squished up.

If you mess up, it actually is harder todo in the brioche stitch.

And when I was learning this, I really had to rip out thefirst four inches several times, because I had people aroundme and I was very distracted, and I kept messing up, so I just kinda ripped itout and started back over, and it's hard to do it, the pull it back withouthaving a life line, so let's look at that right now.

Okay so here is a little example, and this is where I wasusing circular needles.

And you can knit back and forth.

I can work the stitches in one direction, and then when I'm doneI just turn it around, and slip it over.

So if you've never doneit on circular needles, you can knit a flat panel.

However, you can see that I've messed up on here, and I'm just kinda showing you, but if I go back andkinda count to my pattern, I should have a two of 'emhooked and pushed close together, and then one to slip, and then another like in-between.

So I've got two here, one to slip, two here, one to slip.

And then I should have two here, but I don't, I have two individual.

And so I get messed up.

If I decide to put my work down, 'cause I know I'm gonna be distracted, I can put in a lifeline.

Or like say you every, you know six or seven inches, or however much you want to do it.

You could install a lifeline.

You just go in and get a contrasting yarn.

I like to use a cotton, just something that, likethis is nice and smooth.

Where this ones a little bit more grab-by.

So I'll take a scrap piece very long, I'll get a needle.

And then along my needle or.

my thread here, I'm just gonna go through all the loops, that hang out here on my needle.

And I just literally go through, and pull my lifeline through like this.

And then I can continue.

Just going through all the stitches.

And then that way if Idecide I have a problem, I can take my work off the needles, and I can pull out the stitches, all the live stitches, until I get to this line.

Mm 'kay, and so this really helps, keep those stitches in place, and where I won't be in any danger, of ripping them out further beyond repair.

Otherwise you'll have toredo this whole thing.

So a lifeline can really save you.

Alright we're gonna gonow to the bind off.

Okay so when I started, I had these original 11 stitches, and I'm left with more than that, because as you remember, well if I end on a row two, I'm gonna have several of these, crossed over every other one.

So it's 11 but it added 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.

So I actually have 16 stitches across.

Now because I have 11 on here, what I want to do is match that.

I'm actually gonna treat thesethat are crossed together, treat them as one stitch.

All you do is a basic bind off.

Alright so we're going togo through the first stitch, and knit that.

And knit the second two together, and then lift the backloop over the front loop.

That's it.

So now we're gonna knit the next stitch, lift the back over the front.

And I try not to snug up my yarn too much, I mean I want it to be loose.

I don't want it to be too tight.

So just knit the nexttwo stitches together.

And lift the back over the front.

And continue across.

And then two stitches left, technically it's three but we're knitting, these last two together.

Lift the back over the front.

And then knit this one.

Knit that off.

Lift the back over the front, and then we want to cut this yarn here.

And then we're just going to, pick this up through, and pull it.

And then we're gonnaweave this tail in here, and that just pulls in the back.

And then this is nice and loose, and matches our cast on.

So now we have that and I'll probably, (knitting needle clatters loudly) oops, that's probably to loose with that.

But I can work that in when I, when I block this out and everything.

So that is the Brioche stitch.

Right so be sure and weave in your tails, and you have got a nice bulky scarf, that be great for anyone, male, female, anyone.

And I hope you enjoyedthis tutorial today.

Thank you for joining meagain at GoodKnit Kisses.

Have a great day, and happy knitting.

Bye bye.

How to Knit a Harry Potter Scarf in Gryffindor Colors

Hi, Guys! I’m Kristen and Welcome to Studio Knit.

I am here in my favorite, secret Harry Potter-esque location in San Francisco.

This is a great scarf pattern.

You can make it into any other colors thatyou may have been sorted into at Hogwarts.

I thought it would be great to show it offHarry Potter style because Halloween is coming up and I’ve gotten a lot of requests forthis particular scarf, as well.

For our materials, we’re using worsted weighted yarn, mine is wool.

A circular needle.

The size is 8US and the length is 16 inches.

Scissors.

A Tapestry Needle.

And optional tool is a crochet hook for our fringe.

And a little embellishment, I have a Hogwarts crest.

I have links in the description below on exactly where you can purchase all of these items online if you do not have them all on hand.

So, let’s begin with our beloved slip knot.

And, as always, I have links down in the description below for where all of the knitting techniques if you need reference for anything you may not be familiar with doing.

We’re going to begin casting on the longtail method here onto our circular needle.

And I have a great tutorial on Knitting inthe Round.

I am casting on 51 stitches because here we’re going to slip from the right needle to the left one stitch.

This is going to help join our stitches inthe round.

I’m adding a little stitch marker righthere and it’s in this big fluffy pink color so that it’s really obvious and then I’mknitting those two stitches together.

Again, this is to help it be joined in theround nice and snuggly.

Okay, so now, I have another little trick.

I’m going to take the tail of the yarn andfor about three stitches I’m actually going to knit that along with our yarn and thisallows us to not have to weave it in when we are ready to go ahead and cut that yarn tail off.

So, that saves us a step! Of course, we’re skootching and skootching around our circular needle and we just begin knitting in the round.

Now, for the first color here, I’m usinga cranberry red.

And we are going to switch colors after we have knitted up 13 rows in the round.

Gives us this nice smooth stockinette stitch all the way around because all we had to do was knit.

I just love it.

So now adding the second color, I personally I like to knit the two colors together on my first stitch.

Just to help keep the change of yarn colornice and tight when we’re knitting in the round like this.

Then you can go ahead and let go of the first color and then just knit in the round in your second color here.

And again, we are going to continue knitting in the round until we have reached 13 rows and then it’s time to change color again.

And that’s, of course, if you’re makingthe Harry Potter scarf.

If you’re doing your own color scheme, then you just change colors any time your heart desires.

Once you have finished your scarf in the length you desire, it is time to bind off.

Now, the length that I knit my scarf here, okay, so the width is 6 inches and the total length is 54 inches and then if we add thefour inches of the fringe, then that gives a total of 62 inches.

After we’re bound off, go ahead and turnyour work inside out and we’re going to get all of those little yarn tails, and we'regoing to weave them in.

It may seem like a daunting task, it goesfaster than you think.

And I am just going to do about three passes through weaving my yarn ends in and I want to make sure this is going to be a scarf I’m going to have for a long time and I’m using yarn that can be washed in the machine so I want to make sure that all of my tails are snug and not going to unravel on me.

And just slightly, where we changed yarn colors, you can see a little bit of a seam now to solve that issue, really simple, we’re goingto fold our scarf so that seam is just along one of the edges of our scarf right here.

Now it’s time to make our fringe.

Take your favorite Harry Potter book and wrap your yarn around it a few times.

And then go ahead and just cut it off righthere.

And we are going to select seven yarn strands to make our first little bit of fringe.

There are two different ways to go about it.

If you have a crochet hook, go ahead and use that.

Now, I’m starting in the middle of my workbecause my fringe placement, I’m just going to be eyeballing it, so this helps me withplacement and I’m putting my crochet hook in each edge right here.

And wrapping it around the hook.

We just pass it on through.

Now, the second way, if you don’t have acrochet hook, this is also really simple.

Just take a little bit of scrap yarn and using our tapestry needle, you can guide your fringe through the edge of your scarf in this manner.

Okay, either way you did it you just takeyour loop and your yarn ends and you pull it through the loop one time and cinch itup and that’s it.

And doing this is going to help bind off the edges of our scarf that we knitted in the round.

Next, I’m going to add fringe to eitheredge.

And I’m going to do it one more time inbetween, so I have a total of five.

Now I’m taking my second color and justadding that in between each of my original color.

Pretty simple stuff.

And then go ahead and cut off the fringe tothe length you desire.

I’m using the natural fiber of wool andjust lightly my piece is an easy way to block it, it makes it nice and smooth.

I’m even going to smooth out my fringe.

And again an optional embellishment here isour Hogwarts crest.

This is an iron-on transfer.

Now, I’m putting it onto the yarn and itdoesn’t adhere as well as it would to say a t-shirt, so I’m going to do it sort ofjust to get it on there.

I did notice that the edges tend to curl up, so I’m just going to tack it down a little bit more securely with a needle and thread.

I hope you are inspired to knit up this HarryPotter Scarf! I have so many fun Halloween Knits.

My playlist is in the description below andif you knit up a Harry Potter Scarf, please do share it with me, I have links to my socialmedia down below.

Happy Halloween, everyone.

Bye!.

8 MUST HAVE Winter Boots | **Survival Guide!**

hi guys welcome back to my channel today we're doing a video that's been a tradition so far which is my winter shoe essentials that I feel like every woman should have in her closet to battle this season if you're new to the channel welcomewelcome if you've been here

for a while thank you thank you and now let's get to the essential shoes for winter first boot is the combat boot these are probably my most favorite purchase in the past couple of months these are from common projects and I decided to splurge this season before that

I had a version of these but drifted I got them for $25 and honestly they served me so so well I personally love the cool aspect they bring to an outfit also their wait for winter obviously durable you can put a thick sock with it and I wear

it with skirts with jeans with pants I feel like this shoe can serve everybody no matter what style you have and also I feel like I can bring like a dressier aspect to your outfit so this is the reason why I decided to go for this one it

has a little shine to it and these are like my fancy girl boots the next shoe is the over the knee flat boot this one I've owned for probably seven years now and honestly it just gets better and better with the years these are Jimmy Choos and they

are pricey by the fact that I've been enjoying them for seven years just shows you how good is it to make an investment with things that spend the test of time so this boot is a leather it goes over the knee it really dresses up an outfit even

during the day or if I want to make something a little more chic so I really really love this last year I made actually an essential video as well where I featured this pair which is also over the knee but with the heel and its way these are

the classic Stuart Weitzman that you probably see a lot during fall and winter time I still love these they're definitely not as practical especially if you live in a country where you have like 10 centimeters of snow but these are kind of my party shoes next shoot that

I actually just recently purchased because now I feel like I know how to wear them there you go I specifically wanted the white ones to bring something that has a little more kind of funky feel to it I have to say because I wear a lot of black

like most of us were a lot of neutral darker colors in the winter this is really a fun color to work with also it really works with a lot of other colors if you have a lot of different overcoats or faux fur ok the next shoe is I

wanna say the most fashion faux are one but it is very much needed when there is a lot of wetness and dirt and gross things outside rain boots I actually did it on rain boots until a few months ago and I don't know what I've been doing until

now like why didn't I cave in and buy rain boots I don't know anyways I have to say these have been life-saving accessory to own when it's really gross it's lumpy outside the next shoe that I feel like have been really good for me are my moon boots

I have to say that they've been really really comfortable and very easy to put on on days where I could drop off the kids or go to the gym and it's just a snowstorm outside so I've been rocking those I got my moon boots they're our Montclair I

got them on sale for like a hundred dollars so that was a big win-win situation and those babies literally can just survive through anything any type of weather you're in it you might feel and look like a Yeti but honestly it serves its purpose and that's what we're

here for but there were a few incidents where I tripped over them especially when I take the kids to school and we're running so I decided to invest in a little warm understated winter boot and I ordered them online they're not here yet but these these are them

and honestly as long as they're durable water-resistant and comfortable that's all that matters to me so that's definitely a pair that you should own in the winter and now that have been serving me very well in the winter is these babies these are Nike Air Force Ones and

although they kind of look like summer and warm weather shoe I started wearing them with just like tall white socks and if you roll up your pants and you see the socks you can wear funky shops and it actually looks really cool I am a big lover of

white sneakers so I can't wear my comments projects in the winter although I still do and obviously ruin them that way but this has a thicker sole so this is actually a much more weather resistant and easier to wear in the winters so this is my white sneaker

pick for the cold months the next pair of shoes are these well use sock booties and these are honestly so easy to incorporate with any pants I wear a lot of Colette's so this is kind of the shoe that I wear during the day or in the evenings

you go out for dinner or during the day when I'm going to a meeting and I want a heel but I want something that will be comfortable they look great with cropped pants just because they are kind of complementing and alone gating you this pair I bought from

Topshop probably four or five years ago and as long as they're leather and you know that they're gonna go through the weather you're good to go thank you guys for watching my winter to essentials let me know which are yours also if you want a little help with

Burberry Scarf: Is It Worth It? – Luxury Check Cashmere Scarf Review

Welcome back to the Gentleman's GazetteIn another episode of is it worth it? Today, we'll take a closer look at theiconic men's scarf from Burberry in a check made of a hundred percent cashmere.

So before we get there, let's take abrief look at the history of Burberry.

Burberry was established by namesake, Thomas Burberry, in 1856 with a simple mission, to protect people from Britishweather.

A few years later in 1879, Burberry developed gabardine fabricwhich, at the time, was a breakthrough in terms of weather proofing fabric.

Gabardine in cotton is a traditional fabric used even in trench coats today.

Burberry is closely associated with the trench coat.

If you want to see if thatone's worth it or not, check out this video if you want to learn more aboutthe history of the trench coat and how it came to be, this guide is for you.

In the 1920s, for first time, Burberry trademarked their signature checked lining, many callit Nova Check.

Burberry themselves, today, call it Vintage Check.

Basically, it's atraditional checked pattern with a beige or camel colored background with whiteand black plaid on top, as well as a red windowpane.

Today, Burberry calls itArchive Beige.

Just like many other heritage brands, Burberry has developed away from a functional item more towards a high-fashion brand.

Because ofthat, Burberry uses trademark check for branding all over the place.

They alsohave an interlock B branding but it's far less iconic than the Nova Check.

In myopinion, most of Burberry's fashion-forward clothing and accessory lines today are afar cry from their elegant past.

Nevertheless, the Burberry check is stillsynonymous with Burberry as a brand.

Today, you can find this check plasteredall over sneakers, handbags, scarves, and even overcoats.

In fact, you can even findshirts, wallets, and shorts in a Nova Check plaid.

While the Burberry check used tobe a hidden detail on the inside that wasn't visible to the wearer, it's now on theoutside and it's screams to everyone “look at me, I can afford this.

” That being said, the classic Burberry scarf with a Nova Check isone of those items that could still be worth having in your wardrobe becauseit's such an iconic design and a quality item that is so small that it's not likeplastered all over your outfit.

As we always do, we wanted to buy the mosticonic and traditional version of the scarf, that meant a classicpattern in their archive beige colorway.

Turns out, what Burberry calls theclassic check is, in fact, an oversized check that is very popular and comes in33 different colorways including the archive beige.

What we want, though, issomething more appropriate for gentlemen, it is called the classic vintage check.

Unfortunately, that one only comes in nine colorways, not including the archivebeige so we picked a scarf that was as close to that color as possible which iscalled Antique Yellow.

In my mind, both background colors are camel colors, withthe antique yellow being a little more yellowishand the archive beige being a little more khaki tone-ish.

Frankly, I was surprised Icouldn't find the original scale scarf in the original traditional color schemebut that just shows to me that Burberry doesn't care all that much about theirheritage anymore.

Honestly, a glimpse through the men's cashmere scarf sectionon the Burberry website confirms that, there are a lot of out there designs onthere, not much classic stuff.

Burberry offers a range of differentscarf materials, we went with the king of scarf materials, cashmere.

On the website, it retails for $470, we got ours at Bloomingdale'swhich is an official retailer of Burberry scarves at $430.

It's still marked as a retail price on the tag so I think that must be an oldstock and we still got it at that price.

These days, Burberry scarves are heavilyfaked because of that, you can find a lot of tags in the scarf.

There's one regular tag, there's two care tags, as well as one hand tag.

Fake Burberryproducts often have issues with the details, maybe the R on the tag is notquite like the one on the original or there's no serial number.

Now, on thisoriginal Burberry scarf, you have the little hang tags and you can see that Burberry bearsthe Royal Warrant of Queen Elizabeth II, as well as PrinceCharles.

While going through their product description on the website, unsurprisingly, Burberry provides very little detail about the scarf.

We learnedthat it's a hundred and sixty eight centimeters by thirty centimeters whichis sixty six point one inches by eleven point eight inches wide.

Frankly, for men, that is quite short, especially if you want to wear it as a sling around yourneck.

In terms of weight, there's no information but we weighed the scarf andit just comes in under 150 grams which is about five and a quarter ounces.

Itsays the scarf is made of a hundred percent cashmerebut as we learned in our Cashmere Explained guide, not all cashmere isalike.

So where are the Burberry cashmere scarves made? If you dig through their FAQ, you'lllearn that they're made in Scotland at two historic mills; one in Elgin and onein Ayr.

Unfortunately, Burberry doesn't tell you exactly what manufacturer makesthose scarves but if you dig a little deeper, you'll find that in Elgin, thereis a manufacturer called Johnstons of Elgin.

I watched one of Burberry's videoswhich describes how their scarves are made.

If you take a closer look, you'llsee that they show the factory.

Now, if you take a look at this photo fromJohnstons of Elgin, you will know that the producer is most likely Johnstons ofElgin.

Obviously, the chimney in the buildings are the same.

On the other hand, in theScottish Ayr, there's a company by the name of Begg & Co which also produceshigh quality cashmere scarves.

My guess is Begg and Johnstons of Elginare two producers for Burberry scarves.

Both producers have been making andweaving cashmere for over 150 years and they're known for their high quality.

Because of the reputation, they're likely also more concerned about the qualitythey put out.

Frankly, I was a bit surprised to read in a Burberry websitethat the scarf was treated with teasels to create that soft finish you're knownfrom a good cashmere scarf.

You can see it utilized in their video and that'scertainly an added production step that is more expensive.

That being said, bothJohnstons of Elgin and Begg both use Teasels in their finishing process.

Unfortunately, what they don't share in that Burberry video is the origin of thecashmere and the quality of it, the staple length, and the thickness.

Now, these days, all high quality raw cashmere materials origins inMongolia and China.

In the video, you can see how the raw cashmere is spun into yarnsand both Johnstons of Elgin and Begg do that today.

Begg claims to utilizecashmere that has a thickness of 15 to 6 and a half microns but doesn't mentionanything about the staple length.

Johnstons of Elgin neither mentions thethickness of the material nor the staple length on their website.

So what doesgood quality cashmere look like? Actually, you can learn all about it in ourcashmere explained guide video here.

In a nutshell, a quality woven cashmere scarfshould not be stretchy and once you pull in another direction, it should spring backinto its shape.

Also, higher-quality cashmeres usually come in a tighterweave.

That being said, if we're testing the Burberry scarf for those two things, it passes with honors.

It's a very densely woven cashmere, it springs backinto its original shape.

Now, with a retail price of $470, how does itstack up compared to other cashmere scarves on the market? Let's take a lookat this Fort Belvedere cashmere scarf which retails for$195.

It comes in a range of classic patterns or solids without anybold logos or branding.

Just like the Burberry scarves, Fort Belvedereuses finest Mongolian and Chinese cashmere.

The cashmere runs from anywherefrom 15 to 16 and a half microns thick which is just as thin as what Begg uses.

We also use long cashmere fibers that are between 35-50 millimeters long.

Thecashmere yarn is made in Germany, woven into scarvesin Germany, as well, so it's another high-cost country and not made in Asia.

Now, the weight of a Fort Belvedere scarft is about 120 grams which is justabout four and a quarter ounce so it's about 30 grams or an ounce less.

It'salso finished with natural teasels to create that soft nap.

In terms of dimensions, it's also 30 centimeters wide or about 12 inches butit's a full 6 inches longer, measuring in at a hundred and eighty centimeters.

Formen, I find that length to be perfect and we tested many sizes and we finallysettled on this length simply because it is fine if you wear it like I'm doing hereright now but also, if you try to go with a sling.

So how do those two scarves feel? Frankly, I think the Burberry scarf is woven alittle more densely.

At the same time, the Fort Belvedere scarf feels a lot softer tothe touch.

You can also see it has a more extended nap and I like the feeling ofthe Fort Belvedere scarf on my skin more.

Now, a Fort Belvedere scarf is obviously 20%lighter but the retail price is also 59% lower.

If you compare weight to weight, the Fort Belvedere scarves costs about half of whatever great scarfves cost.

So with that beingsaid, is it worth it buying a Burberry cashmere scarf? Firstof all, I think scarves are fantastic products for cashmere because that'swhere you need the warmth, that's where you enjoy the softness and unlike a cashmeresweater, you don't really have to worry about friction and pilling because youjust don't get that when you wear it around your neck.

Now, for$470, you get a high-quality cashmere product made in Scotland at ahigh level with lots of hand labor involved.

It will likely last for yearsto come and if you consider the cost per wear, it's not that big of a deal.

If, forsome reason, you don't like it anymore, chances are you can resell your Burberrycashmere scarf for a much higher value than regular cashmere scarves in themarket.

That being said, there are lots of fakes out there and people might thinkyou're selling them a fake unless you have the original purchase receipt andall the tags still on there but when you wear it, I don't like having these bigtags on my scarf.

So if you want to take them off, maybe take a video of them, incase you ever want to sell the scarf.

Even though the quality of the cashmereis extremely high, I really dislike the dimensions; 160 centimeters or just 66.

1 inches are simply too short in my book.

I still find thisclassic vintage pattern attractive even though it has been so heavily utilizedby Burberry.

If you don't like this colorway, Burberry has eight different ones and youcan even get your initials embroidered onto your scarf.

Personally, I think aclassic herringbone pattern is better suited for a classic man's wardrobe thanthis Burberry check because it's almost like a brand name like a big H fromHermes or a Gucci belt tjat just screams “look at me” I can afford this expensiveproduct.

However, if you're watching this video, chances are you like thepattern of a Burberry scarf and if that's the case, I think the scarf can beworth it.

You're getting, after all, a high quality product and it's not moreof a ripoff in vinyl like, for example, that Louis Vuitton and you can learnmore about it here.

Also, if you don't mind paying twice as much to comparablecashmere scarves and you really want that Burberry feeling, then it can beworth it for you.

These days, you can find many other cashmere scarf brands thatimitated a pattern without the Burberry logo.

In my personal opinion, the shortnessof the scarf is a deal-breaker for me and therefore, not worth it for me.

If youdon't care about that, you can live with that, I think it can be a viable optionif you're prepared to pay four hundred seventy dollars for it.

in today's video I'm obviously wearing a Burberry cashmere scarf in the classicvintage check the colorway is called antique yellow which is very similar tothe archive beige the overcoat is a custom piece that is military-inspiredwith angled hacking pockets gold buttons epaulettes and a half belt in the backit even features nice turnups on the sleeves I'm combining it with a black pairof corduroy from Polo Ralph Lauren a pair of dark brown bison boots andmatching gloves that are a touch screen sensitive in lamb nappa from FortBelvedere that have an interesting look because they have red leather in betweenthe fingers which is quite unique looking and they pick up the tones ofthe red in the scarf if you're interested in Fort Belvedere cashmerescarves you can find them in the Gentleman's Gazette shop.

Easy scrap yarn scarf or blanket, crochet tutorial

If you are like me, always knitting andcrocheting, you end up having loads of little tiny balls of wool, leftover yarnthat doesn't actually make any full projects anymore.

So here I'm showing you what I'm doing with these at the moment.

I have all sorts of different kinds ofyarns here.

They are mainly wool but then there's some cotton, bamboo and makesmixed fibers and also various thicknesses so what I will need to do issometimes to put two yarns together if they are too fine but mainly I'm notgoing to be too worried about the yarn weights, sort of just use them anyway andI'm not joining them beforehand.

I'll be showing later how I put them together.

Iknow that some people like to use various joining methods and then makebig balls of wool but I prefer not to.

We can use all this crap you're not for ascarf or shawl or even a blanket where you just use one little ball of yarn upand then take another.

Okay, let's start.

So first it just need a chain that islong enough to make the width of your scarf.

You'll make a loop, put the hook into it and tighten it and then you start chaining.

If you are familiar with the basics ofcrochet you can just skip this.

So you continue like this until it's longenough.

Mine a sixty centimeters long so it's just chain four sixty centimeters.

Now my chain is long enough and then I start the next row.

We will be using justtrebles and chain stitches and that's treble in the British sense Americanscall it double crochet, but anyway it doesn't matter what you call it, I'mgoing to show it.

First you need a yarn over so one yarn over and then for this first turn you count the sixth stitch from thehook, one, two, three, four, five, six and you insert the hook into that through like that and then you pull the yarn through there and now you have three stitches onyour hook.

Again you take a yarn over and you pull it through two of these andyarn over and through the rest two.

That's your first treble.

Then you chain one and basically that's all there is to it, for the whole scarf you keep going like this.

I'll make one more.

Yarn over, you need to skip one stitch so that it will beeven.

Not this one but the next, hook through, pull the yarn through, yarn over, through two of these, yarn and through the other two and chain one andthen you make another treble again, not the next chain stitch but the one afterit and this is how you continue until the end of the row.

So here I am at theend of the row and then I need to turn.

I chain three and turn and I'm going to make the nextrow of trebles into these loops, holes left from the previous row, so I make onetreble into this here first one and then I chain one and make a treble to thenext one.

So basically this is all there is tothis, you go back and forth right in the beginning into the square left from theprevious row.

Then next wi'll look how you're going to change the colors.

By nowI have worked quite a bit on my scarf and I'm again at the spot where I needto change two yarns, this one is finished.

When you change them, there are of course many ways and I'm showing one that saves you time because you don't need to bepassing the ends of yarns with needles later on.

So you leave, well, I have aquite a long one here now but you leave about at least 10 centimeters or a bitmore and then you take the other, take the next one you are going to use and youcrisscross them a bit away from your work and you pull that one there andleave the other one double for a bit and you set this one doubleas well so it looks like this here and then you just hold them together, thesetwo yarns here and you are going to continue crocheting using both.

So I takeboth of these and chain one and then I continue normally, making a treble and the new yarn comeswhenever it comes depending on how far you crisscross them and then you justcontinue, again using the two because this is still double for a while.

So Ichain one this of course makes it slightly thicker but you have to put theend of the yarn somewhere anyway , so now I have made one treble using a doublethickness and maybe I'll still make the chain stitch and then I leave the otherone just like that there and continue using my, oh it got stuck there, continue using my new color like that and afterwards you just cut these bits.

And here we cansee the scarf so far I'm changing the colors as random as possible.

8 Ways To Wear Khaki Pants | Chinos With Boots, Loafers & Sneakers

What's up, guys? I'm Brian Sacawa, you'rewatching He Spoke Style, and today I'm showing you eight ways to wear khakipants.

First up is a look that I showcased onthe website six years ago.

Kind of hard to believe.

And that I can still weartoday is a testament to the fact that great basics never go out of style.

Havethe khaki pants that I'll be featuring throughout this video and they are frombonobos.

I would call this the Goldilocks fit.

Not too slim.

Not too baggy.

But justright.

Up top, two more staple items.

A heather gray athletic sweatshirt byLevi's worn over a classic OCBD.

Accessories.

Simple and elegant watch onthe wrist.

Sunglasses are by Oliver Peoples.

These are the Banks.

And thenfinished off with a pair of white Common Projects sneakers.

Next, we have basicallythe same look although I have upgraded it a little bit to give it more of abusiness casual feel as opposed to the more casual vibe of the previous outfit.

So, two changes here.

First, swapping the athletic sweatshirt for a merino woolv-neck sweater.

This is by J.

Crew.

And, again, worn over the same light blue OCBD.

Other change is the shoes.

I traded the white sneakers for these penny loafersby Allen Edmonds.

With only two simple changes, I was able to transform a moresporty outfit into one that I would say fits pretty well into that kind of hardto define business or smart casual category.

Here we have a look that if itwas 2012 or 2013 would totally break the internet.

This is, of course, a menswearuniform of sorts.

It's so classic.

It's so easy to put together.

And it really has you covered in many, many different types of situations.

Breaking it down.

First, the navy jacket from Michael Andrews Bespoke.

Hopsackfabric and patch pockets give it a more casual, laid-back feel.

Underneath, onceagain, is the light blue OCBD.

And then anchored by a pair of Allen Edmondslace-ups.

I'll be honest and say that it's been a while since I've worn thisparticular look.

But styling it for this video reminded me how powerful a simpleand classic look like this can be.

If you haven't noticed, we've sort of beenramping up the formality with just some minor changes to the basic look westarted with.

And here is the last in that series before we change things up alittle bit.

This is a really classic, conservative, and for lack of a betterterm, what I would call a very “American” kindof look.

It's got this kind of college-prep thing going on.

And I reallydressed it up, of course, with the tie.

Classic Brooks Brothers BB #4rip tie.

And then instead of a button-down collar, we have a spreadcollar shirt.

Now, because I was thinking along the more preppy lines here, Idecided to finish the look off with a pair of tassel loafers.

These are byJohnston and Murphy.

Moving on now to a look that I would put in sort of thegrown-up casual category but really is a look that would look great on anyonepretty much any day of the week.

Khaki pants, because they are such a classicand staple pair of pants, I love pairing them with other classic items and a veryclassic menswear color palette.

Here, I'm doing that by keeping it a little sportyup top with this navy rugby shirt.

It's from the Nordstrom 1901 line.

Andthen the piece that I would say makes it a little more grown-up, this brown suedejacket, which I picked up at Billy Reed a number of years ago at a very deepdiscount.

And then keeping the sporty theme going by finishing off with a pairof white Common Projects.

Here's a look that is both simple and casually cool.

It's always good to remember, especially as you get deeper and deeper intomenswear and developing your wardrobe, that, as I said before, there is power insimplicity.

The more you learn, you know, it's kind of easy to get bored with that.

But when you actually get back to basics, you really understand, frankly, why itworks so well.

Here, I'm just keeping it very simple with a white OCBD.

And thenfor some contrast and a little bit of casual edge, I threw on this black Levi'sdenim trucker jacket.

Shoes, or actually boots, I should say, are my leatherchelseas by Jack Erwin.

Super comfortable, which is why I like to callchelsea boots the loafers of the boot world.

Up next is a look that's all about playing around with different shades ofbrown.

I would say this is monochromatic- ish only because the lighter khaki colorkind of makes the monochromatic thing a little less obvious.

Dressing tonallylike this, it's always great to add in some texture, which is what I did withthe suede trucker jacket.

Really killer piece from the HSS Michael Andrewscollection.

Link to sign up for the launch announcement is rightup there.

Underneath, keeping it casually elegant with the brown turtleneck.

It'sby Ted Baker.

And then a great accessory that really makes the outfit, in myopinion, a patterned scarf by Drake's.

And then, once again, finished off with theleather chelsea boots.

Finally, an outfit that I'm calling the urban explorer.

WhatI want you to think about here is to actually imagine what this outfit wouldlook like without the waistcoat.

I think it would still look fine, but thewaistcoat definitely takes it up to a different level, which is always the casewhen you're adding a tailored element into an otherwise mostly casual outfit.

Speaking of the casual side of this, let's talk about the shirt.

This is aWestern denim shirt.

It's by Polo Ralph Lauren.

Notice the snaps instead of buttons.

Up top, an olive green felt hat.

It's by Worth and Worth.

And then, anchored by this great chocolate wingtip leather dress boot.

This, of course, theDalton by Allen Edmonds.

So there you have it.

Just eight of the many ways tostyle khaki pants.

As always, complete outfit details are down below in thedescription.

Let me know which look you liked best.

Thumbs up.

Don'tforget to subscribe.

And until next time, thanks for watching and stay tailored.

all right thank you live photo bombing but new kids they were actually using them weekly I couldn't read when I have to be a nail polish color or a lipstick color I can't do anything it is essential so don't hang up remember those are in sellout quantity now

border so in other words you can it's a fabulous fabulous you can basically have both in other words if you want to rap with a border shirt or the heavier wolves rough it's about it gorgeous and especially in the ivory because in the ivory it's thicker it is

it's got a sick of quality and you know if it's gorgeous because you can see what they do on these laces they actually sewed on the list and then by hand they actually cut away they put a frame done and they literally cut away with a lace so

that's all done done behind all done by hand so here are your color ways so I black black what's your classic of course I wait a lot of polls I love the idea like him said it's a heavier weight it is it if you're waiting you can tie

it for under a coat or jacket the black and ivory and ivory drape okay caramel which is a very very good care of look at that oh that is it's a very very rich caramel yum okay caramel and black all right then we read and react what you

to say though as Grady sees look on television there's so much better even in person when you see all that hand work it is the perfect wait this is the where'd you get it scarf prepare yourself because I will say whenever you wear one of Kim's bags or

someone that say let's that you know like the pen set of travel there they call me these stories about which country is because it's true you can't find anything to wear right it's kind of these scarves have become my safety blood pack them in my suitcase and when

I feeling fat so I don't have anything to wear I put on one of his goals and why we gave it the name the luxe cuff I have one scarf that when I'm feeling unlucky Aurora put it on it's not becoming my lucky good lucks yeah so this

is pink with black black pretty and then the last color which i think is reverse on the left of that pink by the way FYI that black blend three dozen left of the blue so very very sleep on you know seriously this is an amazing what we've done

at this price is amazing on the weight of the scum and the drape of the scarf and you can also wear a different ways you can wear it with your coat you can wear it with jeans so low on its own and everybody got a heavier weight in

a what it is so 84 I'm Steve what's the 84 x 28 in case you're trying to you know guesstimate measurements so we have fewer than 400 that is distributed between the various colors let's have a look to you the design of it beautiful so you can see

it is a very very good size Janice or hand appliqued not gorgeous remember this is Kim's last show for the year so honestly with your gift-giving for yourself or gift given for somebody that you love and care about money back guarantee until january thirty first when you get

kim's pieces at home I mean as beautiful say look on television and if you are a devotee like I am you know they're exceptional I call them museum quality because they really are no one puts more labor and effort and quality into what you do and that is

what people really need to realize is you really it is our tis know in a way I mean it's me you know we want something special you know I'm not I'm 53 years old I go down to the mall and everything is for like 20 yards and it's

out I want something unique and special then when I walk in a room someone says oh my god that song is amazing where did you get it and there's a certain level of taste level I think that you know the finesse level and the sophistication that you bought

something interesting and unique and that is just it and because you don't see yourself coming and going no and if you don't want to spend money and you don't want to buy anything new for the season by a scoff and your dress and interior to wear it every

day you put it with coach in two minutes you dress okay just so you know final 300 what we have the last 370 but we have so many we actually have as many people calling as we do have quantity remain the ivory with the black is gone virtually

I mean so can I Rebecca's Mike it is a class it really left i agree i use all the time and i believe it or not the black black is your second one I think so too because it is my standard one especially if you go out in

the evening it is the most dress it is if you don't know where to where anyone else that I think the black black is the most dramatic it is i have to say because we've got other other scarves from kim coming out they are they're the best investment

pieces I still can't believe this price this is insane and the fries really the other thing that we've done the perfect coloration of it was saket the ivory is a good ivory the pink is a good thing the Royal Blues of you know celbridge royal handphone quantity all

right now for you to see a picture of something

Ultimate Guide To Buying Men's Dress Boots | Different Boot Styles | Chelsea | Chukka | Lace-Up

So, I have over thirty pairs of shoes in mywardrobe, yet over the last six months I've noticed that I've worn one pair probably 50%of the time.

So, what is this style that's getting a disproportionatenumber of wears and basically has been my favorite go-to shoe for the last few months? Guys, I can tell you it's not a shoe, it'sthe dress boot.

And in today's video, gents, the ultimateguide for buying the right dress boot for you.

All right, gents, I'm going to break thisvideo up into three parts.

First off, I'm going to talk about the why.

Why do you want to incorporate dress bootsinto your wardrobe? Next, I'm going to talk about the what.

What exactly are dress boots? Finally, I'm going to talk about the how.

How to incorporate dress boots into your wardrobe? Ready, guys? Let's get into it.

Point number one.

Why.

Why all the love for dress boots? I can tell you guys over the last six months50% of the time when I leave my house I'm wearing dress boots and I wear them becausethey're comfortable.

I wear them because they're versatile.

I wear them because they have traction andI live in part of the country where we get rain, we get sleet.

We're already starting to get, you know, alittle bit of frost in the morning and it's really nice.

When I go to watch my son's football game, I'm going up and down in the bleachers and I'm not worried about falling down.

They look great.

I can dress them up, I can dress them down.

And it really — it's the same boot, I getcompliments on them.

All of these that's what I love about thedress boot, it is so versatile, so comfortable, and can give you so much traction.

Now, a company I want to bring to your attention, guys, that I've been field testing for over six months, Thursday Boots.

I've got a couple of different pairs righthere, so definitely check them out.

Guys, I'm going to link to them down in thedescription.

Now, a couple of things I want to bring toyour attention about Thursday Boots.

Number one, the leather they use is from theHorween tannery in Chicago, Illinois.

They use a buttery soft inner glove liningwhich I noticed this when I first got these boots and I was asking Nolan which I spokewith one of the founders and he was telling me about why they chose this lining how itmakes the boot more comfortable.

In my experience in hot and cool weather thisis actually true.

They've got an EVA comfort strip and they'vegot a cork bed midsole that molds the foot.

What this means guys is that you'll be ableto wear this for fourteen, sixteen hours and they're going to feel great.

Finally, guys, I need to really point out, the price point is amazing.

So, if you haven't heard of this company, guys, in my Facebook group I've been talking it.

You definitely want to go check them out.

Point number two.

What exactly is a dress boot? And what should you be looking for when you'regoing out there and buying your first pair? So, guys, you're going to see three commonstyles of dress boots.

You're going to see the Chelsea, you're goingto see the Chukka, you're going to see the laced dress boot.

I'm not going to tell you which one is rightfor you, it depends on your needs, but let me help you understand how each of them aredifferent.

So, the Chelsea is going to be lace less andthat's the key characteristic with this dress boot.

It's usually going to have elastic on thesides.

Most modern Chelseas aren't going to go morethan two inches higher than a pair of dress shoes and they're just going to barely coverthe ankle.

Now, the interesting thing about the Chelseais of all the dress boots I've mentioned it's usually going to be the most formal becausethe base design of it is from a dress shoe.

So, you're going to see a leather sole, you'regoing to see a more delicate design, and basically the bottom of it right here isn't you're notgoing to see much traction on most Chelseas out there.

Now, some Chelseas you will see are actuallymade for winter and are going to actually have a rubber sole put over the leather andthey also may have a zipper on the inside.

Those, you don't really see them too muchin the United States, but if you're going to look for something for cold weather, thatmay be an option.

The second style I want to talk about is theChukka design.

This comes from the desert boot.

It's going to be both informal and casualstyles.

Oftentimes it's the materials and slight differencesin the details of the boot which are going to be either make it casual or dressier.

This pair right here is going to be dressierI can tell by the leather sole, the thickness of the sole the upper and smoothness of theleather and the design.

The lace itself that's used here usually you'regoing to see anywhere from two to four eyelets, but right here as you can tell it doesn'tgo up very high.

A more casual one, we would see a rubber sole, we probably see maybe three or four eyelets, we may be see more casual material up hereuse on the upper, but that is the Chukka.

Now, the laced boot.

This one right here oftentimes we're goingto see as more casual.

This is not going to be something you wouldnormally wear with a suit.

You will see most of them are going to havederby type of open lacing systems.

A close lacing system like you would see withan Oxford is very rare on a laced booting system like this because the laces themselvesmake this therefore a more informal shoe.

Now, what I really like about this designright here is that this one right here is made from a combat boot or a work boot heritage.

So, it's going to be very, very comfortableyet it's going to be have traction down here at the bottom.

You're going to notice it does not have it'sgoing to have some leather right in here, but overall it's going to have a rubber sole.

This one made by Thursday Boots is going tohave, you know, that cork insert that I talked about here.

Also, the upper itself is going to have thatthat glove lining on the inside.

But, overall we see that this one has, youknow, just double stitching right over and around here.

So, it's got leather laid over leather.

What that does is, again, it adds a bit tothe design, but it also makes the boot more casual.

But, let's start to look now at the toe.

Notice this one right here has a plain toe.

This one right here has what's known as acapped toe.

This pair of boots right here, notice allof the design, this here has a winged tip.

So, that will be the final thing that you'llstart to notice in all the boots.

You'll notice that also in chukkas and Chelseasas well, so that's not exclusive to the laced boot design, but anytime we start to bringin ornamentation we start to bring in all of these design we start to bring contraststitching, all of this is going to make the boot more casual.

Now, I know I could have gone into a lot moredetail about all the pieces of the boot.

Definitely go check out the infographic guys.

I put together an awesome infographic, we'regoing to break out all the detail I talked about plus more and so, you definitely wantto go check that out.

Point number three, gents.

How to pull off dress boots in your wardrobe.

So, I've talked about Chelseas, you can actuallya black dark brown wear those with a suit.

But, boots like this are going to more casualin nature, therefore you're going to want to match them with jeans.

Really the rubber sole, the lacing systemas I talked about this is something that's naturally going to work with jeans.

So, you can wear this with pretty much allthe jeans whether they'd be a bit more, you know, casual lighter color or darker coloreddenim which I recommend.

You can also wear this with chinos, a widevariety of trousers made from different materials.

I've got a pair of olive green moleskin thatI pull off with this.

You can also pull off a pair of gray flannels.

The great thing about this is anything nota suit not dress up to that level, you can pull off with this.

So, when it comes to the trousers you've gotthat covered.

Now, let's go into shirts.

So, all of a sudden you want to look at anytype of button down, maybe polos.

You can pull off a great well-fitted t-shirtwith any of the trousers I just talked about with these boots, instantly it's going tolook up.

You're going to have that one item that peopleare instantly drawn to because boots shoes in general are an end point and thereforegrab people's attention.

But, don't just stop with the shirts.

Maybe you wanted to wear that polo or thatt-shirt of that button down, maybe thrown in a sports jacket if you want to go morecasual throw a leather jacket over that t-shirt.

Maybe look to throw a jean jacket.

Very see see all the things that you can dowith this and that's, again, gents, why I love the dress boot.

You can dress it up, dress it down, it's goingto give you traction it's going to get you compliments.

Overall, guys, a great piece to add to yourwardrobe.

And if you're looking for a company to support, check out Thursday Boots.

Like I said for six months I've been wearingthis for the last month I've been wearing this and I can tell you, these things aremade well, they're at a great price point.

Even the name Thursday comes from the factthat when they founded the company they wanted the idea of a boot the works hard for youlike you do on a Thursday, but the weekend is in sight that literally you can wear theseto work then you can wear them out to play in the evening night out with the buds.

So, guys, great company, definitely go checkthem out.

Let me know what you think down in the comments.

I'll see you in the next video.

Finger Knit Blanket (or wide scarf) How to connect (with Closed Captions CC)

hello and welcome back to goodknitkisses I'm your host Kristen and today we're talking about finger knitting i blanket and you can finger net a blanket there's different ways to do it this is one way that I am I will make a long chain row and you'll see this

one long row that comes out it's not really a row so much as it's a very long link that comes out whenever you do it but lots of people go well how do I make this wider say I want to make it into a scarf or a blanket

or a cowl or whatever so I'm what you do is you're going to you're going to knit along and make the link that you want of your blanket and then you're going to use this technique that I'm about to do to connect the panel's now you can use

whatever stitch you want I'm going to show you in kind of a flat knit stitch anyway if you want to see different stitches that you can make check out my loom knitting tutorials things you need always with finger knitting is you're going to need scissors you can also

get a stitch marker that opens okay so when you're ready you can close it up but this is only one stitch marker so you'd have to have four but I would say if you'd like to get a stitch holder that would be great because you might want to

stop and you won't want to pick up all these stitches so if you had to you could go along and pick up all your stitches and then you would just close this up so that would be how you do it and close it up now this is a

little confusing because I'm about to show you how to start a row so when you finish a row you're going to find that there's only one loop left and so that's why just having a single stitch marker would be the best bet so you just put it on

here and this is one that locks and closes so you can throw this whole thing in your bag and know that your knitting is safe if it's you know two minutes or 20 months in between when you're knitting so all right we're going to get started and so

grab your favorite ball of yarn make a length and when you're ready to add start this up okay I'm going to cast on and you've already got four on your I'm sorry you already have four loops on your fingers if you've already got your length so I'm going

to show you how to what we call bind off okay all right I'm going to show this again the video and you're going to see it at the end of a row but if you need to bind off for the first time on only on your first row

only this is how you finish it off so what you're going to do is you're you're working normal actually you need to get it over to this side and you'll find out why but we're going to have to get the particular stitch all the way back over here

so make sure your yarn is coming from this finger and start here so you're going to knit this stitch and then knit the one on you're in debt on your so you knit the index finger and then your middle finger and then you take the one from your

index finger or your middle finger over to your index finger okay and then bind that off okay then you're going to move this one from the index over to your middle finger this becomes your number one peg so this was one two three four and now we're going

to be moving the number one peg or your number one finger over so I know it sounds funny but bear with me so now that we've done that precession here now we're going to omit the number two or this is your ring finger so we're going to knit

that over and take the ring finger which is the two back over to the one which is your middle and knit that off okay so now we've knit that off we're going to move it moving the one over now we have one and two left so we're going

to knit the two which is now your pinky and move the pinky stuff over to the one which is the ring finger and then knit that over you're left with one now you're going to take this and move it all the way back to the one okay now

make sure you're knitting it maybe falling down like this so make sure when you start what we're about to do it's going to start all the way to where you're knitting is up like this so you'll be looking at the back side it'll look like this these are

the little pearl bumps okay this is a knit stitch on the back well this is actually technically was the front of your work and then this is the back which is the purl we're going to work on the purl side so you're going to get this nice ribbed

look that's kind of stretchy and everything so this is actually with three strands of a worsted weight you could use a bulky yarn now this is not how it's supposed to look again I was just doing that to show you how to finish it off so I'm going

to make it back to having one stitch on there okay so now you'll have the one left from your bind off okay so now what we're going to do is we're going to cast on we're going to get the yarn on our fingers so I'm going to do

a thumb cast on I'm going to take my thumb and put it down under the yarn and then kind of spin it around like this okay so it makes an upside-down e like this okay this is like a cursive e but you're going to make this part come

out the bottom put that on and kind of pull it up to tighten it a little bit not too tight do the same thing put your thumb down where it's covered and then put it right side up and then place it on your finger one more time and

put that on here you may have to practice practice it a couple of times it's called a thumb cast on for needle knitting we also call it a half hitch for loom knitting okay now what we're going to do is we've got the working yarn which is this

working yarn coming off that is attached to your ball coming from our pinky so we're going to lay it over our pinky and then all the rest of our fingers and then you can take this with your fingers and let lift the bottom loop over the top and

then you've knit one stitch so do that on all of them lift the bottom over the top on all the fingers okay and then we pull it a little tight I will tell you that you can another tool that you would be benefited to have is a loom

knit tool I pick let me get one and show you this is a illuminant pick and it doesn't matter what brand you use this particular one is from knitting board and they sell it online only it's got a cushion in it fabric casing so if your hand gets

tired especially has some pinching motion on it it causes a problem here you can use this pick so you're going to see me use it but you can also use your fingers okay so now we're going to take our working yarn and go around our index finger here

and we're going to place one of these loops on our index finger which is your first finger so this is where we need to really pay attention okay you can see all this knitting that's coming from here and there's a big looks like a knot right here okay

you're going to ignore the not follow this strand we're going to ignore this first strand here and we're going to come to the next one you see that there's a row here with the knot and then another row with a knot you're going to take this loose strand

on the outside of that okay so you're a skip and then go to this one put that on your finger just take it from the back side place it on okay now you're going to take you're working on because you got it out of the way and now

we're going to take it and lift the bottom over the top or you can use this course be careful not to poke yourself okay and then now you're going to knit the rest of these okay so we're going to work this okay so that row is the one

where we've added a row from over here now we're going to work our way back you don't pick up anything on this row it's very important that you knit that first row without adding anything on if you don't knit that first row your blanket is going to get

smaller and smaller and it's not going to be the right size so go ahead and now that we've we did that first row we came back and did a second row now move your working strand over to get out of the way go ahead and put another one

on so you're going to skip the one that you're on and then go to the next okay so you see we're skipping and then going to the next loose stitch we're picking up stitches alright so you're going to continue I've got three at a time so I'm grabbing

those three strands at the same time knit those over okay so you're going to work on knitting those over and then of course they're going to finish the second row and then you're going to pick up more stitches on the next row and you're going to just going

to continue doing this the entire time okay so you're going to go through the length of your entire line that you had okay of your finger knitting so pull that back around pick the stitch up again it's not this really long one that's right next to it it's

the next one so just kind of pull on it stick that finger in there and then knit it over you can knit both at the same time or one at a time like I did okay so the next time we're going to meet back up I'm going to

fast forward in my video and we will be at the end of this row and then you can see how we will get ready to flip the blanket and go on to the next row okay so pause your video and we'll meet you back in a second okay

so you're knitting along and you're near the end and you've got this long piece you've got one more and another one at the end go ahead and knit this one as you've been doing making sure to put that working yarn over the back okay and then we're going

to go ahead and end it these over continue it's okay if you kind of stretch out your stitches and then I just kind of pull them tight after I do it that way I can get my hands around it okay so I made my way back go ahead

and pull my yarn over again okay now if you can see this there's the leading yarn that we had and then there's this very last stitch and it's kind of loose because this is where your fingers were on originally and you can go back and make these tighter

with a crochet hook later but really it's not really necessary it kind of adds like a nice scalloped edge to your work see how it's kind of scalloped on one end and then this is where a tighter bind off is so it's got kind of a cool effect

and you can also add fringe or something too so okay so now I pulled that last one which was a cast on stitch and so we're going to bind off we're going to do as before where we knit two over one now this is the first one in

the bind office is what I'm calling the number one finger here and we've got our number two which is the middle finger here and then we knit that over and then we're going to take the two and put it on top of the one which is the in

the middle finger over the index finger okay we can knit that over move the one over to the two and now this becomes the one okay so now we're going to knit the ring finger which is your new number two okay and move the two to the one

getting that off okay so now moving this over to the ring finger got two left knit this last stitch on the pinky which is your number two pick that up and put it on the one which is on your ring knit that off okay and see this is

what I was talking about earlier so now we have one on this ring finger we're going to pick it up and move it all the way over to our index finger okay so whether you're right or left handed I'm doing this on my left because I'm right-handed but

I could flip this video just to make it easier for people who are I'm left-handed and then they can do it on the right so it doesn't really matter so now you're left with the one this is where you could you can choose to if you are done

with your blanket you could choose to cut your yarn and then you would just pull this all the way through and weave in your end or you could continue by this is where we'll cast on so I'll show you how to cast on and start again so if

you're doing your next row this is where we flip so I'm going to take all my knitting that's now falling down here I'm going to flip it okay this is how we're getting this really cool ribbed effect which is really kind of kind of neat so to shape

it and make stuff smaller or bigger you can just skip inward a few spaces and skip some stitches and then you can make it smaller and do some shaping or you can add on these rows and add extra to make it longer on one side so this is

that's up to you okay so now we're going to do this thumb cast on again stick your thumb and go down on top of the yarn and twist up and put it on this index finger down and twist up oh and I have a knot in my yarn

oh there we go fixed it okay and then down twist up and now you've successfully cast it on these fingers and then go ahead and knit over one row okay alright so you've got it so go ahead and pull your yarn over here and then we're going to

go ahead and cast on we've got this part right here that it's leading from okay there's a big ol knot here and it's leading from here and we want to grab this first stitch and then knit over okay so you're just going to keep going along like that

until you get the link that you want it doesn't really matter what blanket size I have right now because it's whatever size you want you could just do maybe a couple of these and then then sew together the ends and make like a cowl or an infinity scarf

or something like that this is really nice and soft and if you're curious I have three I have three strands here but I'm actually working from one ball of yarn and the way I do it is I do this method here which I've got a video of I

will post a I will post the tutorial on how to do that it's a Navajo plying technique and I show the video with crochet but you can do it for anything so when you end up coming to the end of this loop that's here see this loop you

actually end up grabbing through the loop this piece of yarn and then keep going on and then when you put it together it becomes three strands so it's a really great way to make use of one ball of yarn then you just keep tying in one so if

How to Knit a Scarf for Beginners Step By Step

Hey! I’m Davina from sheepandstitch.

com, and today we’re going to learn how to knit a beginners scarf step by step.

This tutorialis for total beginners and complete newbies.

We’ll go through all the steps together, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.

So if you’ve always wanted to knit or you justneed a little refresher, then this course is for you.

And if you’re already a seasonedknitter, then consider sharing this course with someone who has yet to experience thejoy of knitting.

Share the love! And bring them into the knitting fold.

Are you readyto knit? Yeah? Okay, let’s start knitting.

Title: Choosing Yarn and Needles Today I’m knitting with two skeins of TJOCKTMartta the Merino, which is a super delicious merino yarn.

It's a one ply and a bulky weight, which means it'll knit up really quickly.

I mean, look how thick that is, right? Andthis is a beautiful color called Pearl.

And you can get these at sheepandstitch.

com.

I'malso knitting with a pair of 10 mm needles.

Now the needles and yarn that you use canbe anything that you have around.

You don't have to use this particular yarn or needle.

So the yarn that I'm knitting with is a bulkyweight yarn.

This is nice and thick and I like this for beginners because it gives yousomething to hold onto.

You can really grasp this yarn and it's easy to manipulate.

I wouldrecommend that you use yarn that requires needles that are at least 5 mm in size.

Anythingsmaller than that is hard to manipulate for a beginner.

You want to stay away from yarnslike this.

This is a sock weight yarn.

And as you can see, it's really fine.

It's goingto be harder to knit with.

So stay away from yarns that are really thin like this.

You'llwant a worsted weight or an aran weight, all the way up to a bulky weight like this ora super bulky weight.

So the rule is bigger yarns are better for beginners.

So what kind of needles should you use? Thebest place to look is your yarn label.

My yarn label here tells me that the needlesI should use are between 10 and 15mm.

So when you're choosing a needle size, look to youryarn label first and use their recommended needle size as a guide.

So once you've got your yarn and needles, then you're ready for the first leg of your journey, which is casting on! Woohoo! Title: The Cast On So now we're going to cast on.

Now castingon means we're going to get our yarn onto our needles.

Right now, our yarn and needlesare separate from each other and we don't want that.

We need to get our yarn onto ourneedles so that we can knit into it, right? Now obviously we're not going to wrap ouryarn like that.

That won't do.

We need a way to make stitches onto our needle.

So that'swhat casting on does.

We're going to take our yarn and make a slipknot.

We're going to go in 7 or 8 inches from thetail end of our yarn here, and then we're going to make a slipknot at this point.

Soi'm going to make a loop with my yarn like this.

So again, no loop and now we have aloop.

So we'll make a loop with our yarn and we'll take the tail end of our yarn and gobehind that loop.

Then we're going to pick that strand of yarn through our loop.

So herewe go.

Pick that through and then pull.

And now we have a slipknot.

So let's do that again.

I'll undo that slipknot and i'll go in about 7 or 8 inches from the tail end and make asimple loop.

I'll take my tail end and go behind that loopthat i've just made and then pick that strand of yarn through and pull out.

And now I havea slipknot.

So now i'm going to take my needle and putit through the slipknot that i've just made.

So now my slipknot is on my needle.

But theslipknot is really loose.

It's flopping around.

It's not staying stationary.

So I need totighten it up.

I'm going to take these two strands of yarn and pull them together andthat will tighten up my slipknot.

So now you can see it's sitting nice and snug, snug asa bug on my needle.

Perfect.

So now this slipknot has made up my firststitch.

This is my first cast on stitch.

Pretty cool, right? But we need to cast on more stitchesonto our needle because we don't want a scarf that is this wide.

We want a scarf that'sthis wide, right? We need to cast on more stitches.

So what I’m going to do is takemy finger and put it down on my first stitch here becauseI don't want this to be rolling around.

I want it to stay in place.

Lets put our fingerdown and we can start casting on.

So first i'm going to take my left hand and make agun shape.

Then i'm going to go underneath that strand of yarn.

So this is my strandof yarn that's attached to my ball of yarn.

It's not my tiny tail here.

So i'm going totake my left hand, make a gun, go underneath that strand of yarn that's attached to myball of yarn and then i'm going to turn it over to the left.

So now you can see thati've made a loop on my finger.

So i'm going to use my needle and pick up that loop offof my finger.

And I’ll drop it off onto my needle and then pull down.

Cool.

So nowI’ve just made one stitch.

I've cast on my second stitch.

So let's continue doingthis.

We’ll cast on a couple more stitches.

I'll take my left hand and make a gun andgo underneath that strand of yarn and then turn my hand to the left.

And you can seethat i've made a loop with that finger.

I'll use my needle to pick up that loop.

Just likethat.

And then pull down.

There we go.

So here is our third stitch.

One, two, three.

Three stitches that we've cast on.

Pretty cool, right? So we'll continue doing this– making a gun with our left hand, going underneath that strand of yarn and turningit to the left.

And then picking up that loop with our needle.

Just like that.

Then i'mgoing to take my hand off and pull down.

Now a thing to remember is that when you'redoing this, sometimes it will get tricky picking up that loop of yarn.

Sometimes the loop travelsup on your finger.

Ah! And it's off, right? That was a close call.

But if you find thatyou're having trouble picking up that yarn loop, you can hold your yarn in place.

Justgrab it and then let the needle pick up that loop off your finger, nice and steady.

Thenpull down.

So as you get comfortable doing this, youcan go really, really fast.

And when I do it I'm just going like this.

Really fast.

Now the official name for this cast on method is the backward loop cast on.

I find thatthis method is really good for beginners.

It's much less involved than some other castons.

So continue casting on stitches, and cast on about 15 stitches and then we'll takestock of our stitches.

So happy casting on.

This is the first leg of your journey.

Onceyou've completed this, you've only got two more to go.

So cast on your stitches and meetme back here.

Title: The Knit Stitch So now you've cast on 15 stitches onto yourneedle.

Now let's take stock.

So I'm going to spread out my stitches like this and takea look at the width of my stitches.

So basically if we start knitting now, our scarf will bethis width.

If you're happy with this width, then great.

We can start knitting next.

Butif you feel that your scarf is too wide, then you can take off some of your stitches.

Solet's say I wanted my scarf to be this wide, then I would pop off some my stitches justlike this.

Pop them off the needle, there we go.

Gone, gone, gone.

And now my scarfis a bit thinner.

Now let's say you want your scarf to be wider, then you would cast on more stitches.

So the width of your stitches is pretty close tothe width of your scarf.

Let's stay I want a really wide scarf.

Let's say I want thesame width as the scarf at the beginning of the video.

That was 22 stitches.

So, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21 and 22.

So let's say I want a really wide thick scarf, then I would cast on 22 stitches.

And you can see here that is a really big wide scarf.

But I kind of love that.

I love the coziness of a big scarf.

So now, let's move on to the next leg of ourjourney, which is the knit stitch.

Very exciting! So when we work the knit stitch, we're goingto use our right needle.

And we're going to go into the stitch from the bottom to thetop.

So i'm going to push my needle in like that.

Then i'll take my yarn and go from theback to the front of my needle.

Then i'm going to pull that strand of yarn that I just loopedaround my needle through this stitch on my left needle, and i'll push my needle throughand push it off the needle.

Just drop it off.

Don't worry if you didn't catch that the firsttime.

We'll go over this a couple more times and you can always rewind this video.

So let's do this again.

I'm going to takemy right needle and go into the stitch on my left needle and just push my needle throughit.

Just like that.

And you can make really big exaggerated movements.

That's totallyfine because you're just learning the steps right now.

Then i'll take my yarn and go aroundmy right needle from the back to the front and then I'm going to pull the loop that I'vejust made through the stitch on my left.

Here we go.

You can see that loop right there.

I want to catch that on my needle, so I'll push my needle through and then drop thatstitch off the needle.

Cool.

So I've just knit two stitches.

So as we knit our stitches, we're kind oftransporting them from the left needle to our right needle.

They're migrating over fromhere to here as we knit them.

So let's keep going.

Now when you hold your yarn you canloop it around your finger the way i'm doing.

But if this process is making you nervous, you can just grab your yarn.

You can just grip it like this.

Totally fine.

We're justworried about getting the steps down and then we can work on the finesse and the techniqueof holding your needles.

But right now we're just worried about steps.

So if you want todo a caveman grip.

So we'll go from the bottom to the top intoour stitch.

So just push your needle through.

Then we'll take our yarn and go from the backto the front like this.

Then we'll pull that strand of yarn through our stitch and thendrop it off the needle.

So you can repeat this to yourself as you knit.

Go from thebottom to the top.

Wow, that was a big one.

We'll push and then we'll take our yarn andgo from the back to the front.

Then we'll pull that loop that we made through our leftstitch.

There it is! So we'll catch that guy, push our needle through and then drop it offour left needle.

So that's all there is to the knit stitch.

Bottom to the top.

Yarn fromthe back to the front and then we'll pull that loop through.

Here it is.

There's ourguy.

There it is.

And we'll catch that with our needle and drop it off the left needle.

So, don't worry if you feel clumsy when you're first starting out.

You can use all kindsof gripping methods.

Most of the people I teach will grip their yarn like this, andthat's fine.

Whatever feels natural to you, use that method.

You really just want to getthe steps down first.

So, going from the bottom to the top, using your yarn to go from theback to the front, and then picking out that loop and dropping it off the needle.

So theseare all the steps involved with knitting.

And I just want you to get familiar with thesteps and then you can worry about how to hold your needles and how to hold your yarnin a way that's more efficient.

All that kind of stuff, we can work on that later.

Thinkof it like dancing.

When you're learning how to dance you want to get the choreographydown.

You want to get the steps down and then you can work on technique and having morestyle and panache.

But when you're first starting out, you just need to know the steps.

So it'sthe same with knitting.

So work on the knit stitch and you'll want to knit all the stitcheson your left needle.

Then we can move on to the next step.

Title: Next Row and Pep Talk So now I'm nearing the end of my first row.

I've just go two stitches left on my left needle.

So let's knit into these two stitches.

I'm going to go from the back to the front, and then pick that stitch through and thenoff the needle.

And here's my last stitch.

Oh my gosh.

So, here's my last stitch andthere we go.

Woohoo! So now we've just knit our first row.

Pretty awesome, right? Lookat this beautiful first row.

So great.

So once you've finished your first row, youcan turn your needle around.

So i'm going to take my needle and bring it to my lefthand, and take my “naked” needle, the needle that doesn't have stitches on it, intomy right hand.

So that's what you do when you finish a row of knitting.

You always transferit back to your left hand.

Your left hand is for all your stitches.

Your right handis for your working needle or your “naked” needle.

So now we're going to do the exact same thing that we just did.

We're going to continueknitting into our stitches.

So, bottom to the top.

The yarn goes from the back to thefront, and then we'll pick up that loop, push it through our needle, and then drop it off.

So that's all there is.

We would keep on knitting.

Learning how to knit is a lot like learninga new language for your hands.

If this is your first time knitting, yourhands have never held yarn and needles and tried to manipulate them at the same time.

It's a lot to get used to.

So in the same way that when you're learning a new language, you wouldn't expect to be fluent in a day, you can't expect to be an expert knitter ina day, even if you practice a lot.

Your hands need to get used to the rhythm of knitting, and that takes some time and practice.

So don't be discouraged if your first couplerows are a little bit funny and maybe there's some weird holes in them.

Just take the timeto practice.

Give it some time and don't be too worried if you make mistakes.

Practiceand have fun with it.

Your hands are really smart.

They'll find their way around youryarn and needles as you practice.

Title: How to hold your needles (once you'recomfortable with the knit stitch) Once your hands are comfortable holding yourneedles and speaking the language of knitting, then you can hold your needles in a way that'sless clumsy.

How I hold my yarn is I’ll take my right hand and this finger, the onethats beside my pinky finger, and I'll grab my yarn and wrap it around my finger likethis.

And you can wrap it around once or twice.

It doesn't really matter.

Just find what worksfor you.

I usually go once like this.

So I’ll take my finger and go around my yarn oncelike this.

Then I'll use this finger beside my thumb and go underneath that strand of yarn.

So my hand configuration looks like this.

Then when I knit my stitches, I just move my hand up.

I'm going to move my hand up andthen wrap it around my yarn and go through the stitch like that.

That way I'm not grabbingmy yarn and moving my whole hand in that motion.

Instead I’m just moving my hand.

So I'mreally just moving my hand upwards and catching the yarn onto the needle and pulling it throughin one really fluid movement.

So I'll show you how I wrap my yarn again.

Here's my finger.

Just wrap it around and I’ll take this finger and go underneaththat yarn.

So that gives the yarn a bit of tension and when I knit I just move my handup and drop it off.

And move my hand up and catch the needle with it and just move itand pick it off like that.

So when you're first starting out, do not feel bad aboutholding your yarn like this: going into your needle, going all the way around and pullingit through.

It’s okay.

Okay? It's totally okay.

You have to learn the steps first andthen you can work on how you want to hold your needles and all that fancy stuff.

So continue knitting until your scarf is thelength that you like, and by the end of this you'll be an expert in the knit stitch.

Title: Slipped Selvedge Now if you like the look of this clean edgehere, well it’s really easy to achieve that.

All you need to do is slip the first stitchof every row.

Basically, when you get to the first stitch of your row, instead of knittingit as you normally would do like this, you would put your needle into it as if you weregoing to knit, and then drop it off the needle.

Continue knitting the rest of the stitches.

That's all there is to getting a nice clean edge to your knitting.

So here we go.

I'mnearing the end of my row here, and here's my last stitch.

Now I'm going to turn my workaround.

On the first stitch of this row, I'm going to slip it.

I’ll go into this stitchas if I were going to knit it, and then slip it right off.

And continue knitting.

And that'sall there is to getting a nice clean edge.

Just slip the first stitch of every row.

Title: The Cast Off Hey! So look at my scarf! It's super long.

Look at this sea of knit stitch.

I can't wait to wear this out.

So now i'm ready to castoff my stitches.

What casting off means is getting your knitting off of your needlesso you can wear this in public.

You don't want to walking around with a pair of needlesattached to your scarf.

That's kind of weird.

Good conversation starter, but still kindof weird.

So we want to get our scarf off of our needles, and that's what a cast offwill do.

So we're going to knit two stitches.

So we'llgo one, knit one, and then knit two.

So now we're going to take our left needle and gointo the first stitch that we just knit.

Then bring it over our second stitch.

So here wego.

I'm just going to drop it and you can see my second stitch is right here.

I’mgoing to drop it over the second stitch.

So I've just cast off one stitch now.

I onlyhave one stitch left on my needle .

The other stitch has been cast off right here.

And youcan see this as we move on.

So now i've got one stitch on my right needle and I'm goingto knit another stitch.

So in order to cast off you always need to have two stitches onyour right needle.

So i'm going to take my left needle and go underneath that first stitchand then bring it over my second stitch.

So I'm going to go over.

There it is.

So nowi've brought it over and now I once again have one stitch on my right needle and mysecond stitch has been cast off right here.

So let's do this again.

w e would basicallywork across our whole row like this.

Once again I have two stitches on my right needleand i'm going to bring my left needle into that first stitch.

If you're worried aboutboth of your stitches falling off your needle when you bring it over, you can always tightenthat second stitch by pulling on your yarn.

And now your stitch here is really tight againstyour needle, and when you pull your second stitch over it, it won't fall off becauseyou're pulling really tight on this yarn.

So we would continue doing this.

Knit onestitch so that you've got two stitches on your right needle.

Then go into that firststitch that you just knit and bring it over the second stitch.

And that's all there isto casting off.

Two stitches on your right needle, bring your needle into that firststitch and then over your second stitch just like this.

And if you're worried you can alwaysuse your hand to grab a hold of yours stitch so it doesn't fall off.

You can use any methodthat you want that makes you feel comfortable.

Now you can see that as we've casted off, this is the edge of our knitting and it's being cast off of our needle nice and safely.

It looks really beautiful on this nice edge here.

And that's what happening as you castoff.

You're binding off your stitches so that they're secure and they won't unravel.

Socast off all the stitches on this row and meet me back here when you have one stitchleft.

We'll knit up this last stitch.

So now I haveone stitch left on my row and you can see that the rest of my row has been cast off, and it looks so great! I can't wait to wear this scarf.

So now we have one stitch lefton our needle, and we're going to get out our scissors.

So i've got a pair right here.

I'm going to cut off my tail end, but i'm going to leave five or six inches, maybe seveninches, of my tail end.

Then i'm going to cut if off.

So now i'm going to bring my tailend and bring it to the front of my needle.

Then i'm going to take my stitch and bringit over that tail end of my yarn and then just pull it through.

Woohoo! I'll pull tightlyon that.

And now i've just cast off my scarf.

Can yo believe it? My scarf is off the needles, and now I can wear it out into the world.

Except for one last thing, which is this littleyarn tail right here and the yarn tail at the beginning of our work.

We need to weavein this end so that its nice and neat and hidden into our scarf.

So we're going to dothat next.

Title: Weaving in Ends So here's my tail end.

I want to weave thisinto my scarf so that it's secure and also invisible.

So i'm going to use a tapestryneedle for this.

You can get this at most craft stores.

It's pretty inexpensive andvery handy.

So if you plan on doing any more knitting you'll want to invest in a tapestryneedle.

I'm going to take the tail end of my yarnand push it into the eye of this needle.

And now we're going to weave this tail end intoour work.

So the great thing about this fabric is that it has all these little bumps in it, which is great for camouflaging things like your tail end.

So i'm going to take my needleand go into a little bump that's close to my tail end.

So I'm going to go into one that'sclose by, and i'll pull it down to make it even.

I'll move into this next little bumpto the left of it, and i'm going to go down one of these bumps.

So i'm going up and down.

I'm not pulling really tightly.

Im just keeping the same tension as the knitting.

So i'm goingto go up into one of these bumps, and then I'm going to go down into one of these bumps.

So I'm going to go in five or six times.

That's pretty good.

Maybe I’ll go in one more timehere.

That looks pretty good to me.

So after I do this, I like to stretch it out a littlebit so that the tail end isn't pulling at the fabric.

That looks good.

So lets lookon the other side.

It looks practically invisible on this side as well.

The whole point of thisis to hide the tail end and to secure it in place.

So now I'm going to take out my scissorsand cut off that tail end.

Wow.
